Update: February 1, 2026
Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative offices will be operating on a delay on Monday, February 2, and will open at 10 a.m. due to hazardous road conditions across our service territory.
While our offices will open on a delay, our crews and support teams remain on standby and ready to serve you.

As temperature drops continue overnight, demand on the electric grid increases. You can help manage energy use and keep costs down with a few simple steps:
✅ Avoid running multiple large appliances during on-peak hours
✅ Set your programmable thermostat and keep it steady
✅ Use a water heater timer to reduce heating during peak times

Winter weather — including high winds, prolonged low temperatures, and the potential for snow accumulation — is expected to impact our area this weekend. While ice is often a major factor in winter storm outages, Mid-Carolina Electric is remaining vigilant and preparing for high winds, wet snow that could freeze, and whatever else comes our way. Here’s how you can be ready, too. 👇

• Charge phones and backup batteries
• Gather flashlights, blankets, and extra supplies

• Never operate generators indoors or in enclosed spaces
• Keep generators away from windows and doors
• Always follow manufacturer safety guidelines

• Stay far away from downed power lines
• Report outages promptly
• Be cautious of tree limbs weighed down by snow or ice
