Mid-Carolina VP Receives Prestigious National Industry Award
Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative is proud to announce that its Vice President of Engineering, Lee Ayers, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Russell B. Dondanville Award, one of the highest honors presented by the Utilities Technology Council (UTC).
Ayers received the award during the UTC Telecom & Technology Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota June 1-4. Established in 1989 and named for UTC's first president, the national Russell B. Dondanville Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and dedication through their contributions to the association and the utility industry.
The award honors individuals whose commitment, integrity, and active involvement have advanced the mission of UTC while making a lasting impact on their colleagues and the industry as a whole.
"Lee's leadership, expertise, and commitment to serving others have made a tremendous impact on Mid-Carolina Electric, our members, and the utility industry," said Bob Paulling, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative. "This recognition is a reflection of the respect he has earned throughout his career and the values he brings to every endeavor."
Ayers has dedicated more than 40 years of service to Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in advancing technology, strengthening electric system reliability, and helping position the cooperative for the future.
During his acceptance remarks, Ayers expressed gratitude to Mid-Carolina Electric for supporting his involvement with UTC and providing opportunities to contribute to the industry beyond the cooperative's service territory.
"This recognition is especially meaningful because of the people I've had the privilege to work alongside throughout my career," Ayers said. "Mid-Carolina Electric has always encouraged leadership, innovation, and service, and I am grateful for the opportunity to represent our cooperative and our members."
The award highlights not only Ayers' individual achievements but also Mid-Carolina Electric's longstanding commitment to leadership, innovation, and service within the electric cooperative industry.
