Operation Round UP

Operation Round UpThrough Operation Round Up, MCEC members join together to help neighbors facing crises. Voluntary contributions of approximately $6 a year per member help these people get back on their feet. With Operation Round Up®, small change changes lives.

How can you help?

We make it easy. Sign up and we'll simply round your electric bill up to the next highest dollar each month. The extra change - an average of only 50 cents a month or $6 a year - is your contribution to the program. If you wish to discontinue your contributions at any time, simply contact MCEC.

If you are a new member, all you have to do is sign up.

How are the funds used?

Operation Round Up funds stay right here in the MCEC service area. Funds are never used for political or administrative purposes. Operation Round Up does not help individuals or families with electric bills. The program serves the needs of those persons dealing with catastrophic situations which prevent them from functioning in society and sustaining basic needs. Catastrophic situations are defined as death of an immediate family member or major illness and/or an accident that prevents the applicant or immediate family member from working and contributing to the household income. Verification of illness may be required from a family doctor.

Who distributes the funds?

The program is administered by the Operation Round Up Trust Board, an independent board of community leaders who establish the policies for granting Operation Round Up funds.

Contributions to Operation Round Up are tax deductible. We'll mail you a summary of your annual contributions at the end of the year. MCEC will also use every available means, including Living In South Carolina, Current Word, and this web site, to keep you informed about how and when funds are distributed.
