Rewarding a Bright Idea
The "Bright Ideas Prize Patrol" made special visits to area schools to award a 16 grants totaling $13,000 for teachers' innovative ideas for classroom projects. Mid-Carolina Electric sponsors the Bright Ideas program to allow educators to compete for funding outside of often-limited school district resources.
MCEC has added an action-packed "Kids Korner"
Using colorful animations, playful graphics, interactive games, puzzles, science experiments, house projects and online coloring books, Kids Korner explores everything from power generation sources, transmission and distribution to electrical safety, energy efficiency and utility careers.
Jack F. Wolfe, Jr. Elected Secretary-Treasurer of NRECA
Jack F. Wolfe Jr., president and chief executive officer of Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative, Inc., Lexington, S.C., was elected to a two-year term as secretary-treasurer of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
MCEC Named Business Partner of the Year
Lexington School District Two has named Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative as their Business Partner of the Year. The announcement was made Friday at the 2005 Teacher & Business Partner Recognition Breakfast, sponsored by Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

The Power of Human Connections - Half a World Away
MCEC is taking part in the nationwide effort to help south Asian victims of the December 26, 2004 tsunami disaster. The co-op is joining with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's (NRECA) International Programs to encourage donations by the electric cooperative family.
