MCEC Named Business Partner of the Year Lexington School District Two has named Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative as their Business Partner of the Year. The announcement was made Friday at the 2005 Teacher & Business Partner Recognition Breakfast, sponsored by Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce. "Mid-Carolina is an active, generous and supportive business partner in a variety of ways," said Superintendent Barry Bolen. "They donate electricity science kits, library books and fingerprint identification kits to our schools in addition to providing an annual scholarship for seniors and speakers for assemblies. Mid-Carolina is an outstanding corporate citizen, and District Two has been fortunate to benefit from their support for many years." Ken Frick, chairman of the board of Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative, accepted the honor. "Mid-Carolina enjoys playing an active role in the education of the Midland's students," said Frick. "We are proud to receive this honor from Lexington District Two and are certainly fortunate to have played a small role in the success that District Two has enjoyed over the past few years." Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit electric cooperative serving approximately 46,000 members in Lexington, Richland, Saluda, Aiken and Newberry counties.
